Defence Minister visits Naval Headquarters


ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP): Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Monday visited Naval Headquarters (NHQ) here and called-on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

During the meeting, matters about the Regional Maritime Security milieu and operational readiness of the Pakistan Navy were discussed, a Pakistan Navy news release said.

The naval chief apprised the minister on maritime challenges and the Pakistan Navy’s preparedness to meet them. The minister was also briefed on the Pakistan Navy’s future capability enhancement and modernization plans.

The minister took keen interest in details of recent acquisitions of state-of-the-art platforms and equipment which will further strengthen the seaward defence of the country. The minister also acknowledged the importance of the Pakistan Navy in safeguarding the maritime interests of the country.

He assured that his ministry would make all efforts to meet the requirements of the Pakistan Navy despite the prevailing economic constraints.
