PESHAWAR, Jul 20 (APP):An all-inclusive technical training on market based modern digital programmes, helped a polio victim from Peshawar in improving his skills through delving into intricacies of app development and getting a suitable job at a reputed software house.
The technical training on Flutter App Development was jointly arranged under DECODE, Digital Empowerment Through Commerce Opportunities & Digital Education) programme, a collaborative initiative between Sustainable Energy and Economic Development (SEED), Consortium of Change Mechanics, and LMKT.
A total of 300 youth from Peshawar were selected for the training including two persons with disabilities (PWDs) at Peshawar Incubation Center (PIC).
Sharing the benefits of training, Faiz Muhammad Khan, a young man of 32 years age and victim of polio virus, expressed special thanks to organizers for orchestrating this impactful program enabling him to improve his understanding and securing a proper job.
Faiz, whose right leg is totally paralyzed, told APP that life of a polio victim is very hard and totally dependent on others in physical movement to financial requirements.
In such circumstances, any assistance even in shape of skill development is like a blessing for person with disabilities, he comments.
Faiz said he studied IT from Peshawar University but free professional training and counseling on modern and market based skills, improved his professional competence besides bolstering confidence to search for suitable jobs.
Faiz has regret over his disability caused by crippling polio, but is satisfied over economic empowerment he gained with the support of SEED, Consortium of Change Mechanics, and LMKT.
He urged such organizations to work more for support of physically disabled persons and make them stand on their feet by making earning through different skills, especially IT.
He also stressed upon PWDs to express courage and did not allow disability to become a weakness of life.
“With little courage, passion and hard work, persons with disabilities can spend their live with honor and dignity, he believed.
Faiz Muhammad Khan also urged parents to give due consideration to immunization of essential vaccination to their children and protect them from perilous diseases especially polio which causes lifelong disability and deprivation.
Parents should take lessons from polio victims and not give any consideration to demystifying myths and misconceptions spread by some unscrupulous elements to misguide people about importance of essential vaccines.
“The DECODE program was aimed at upskilling the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in key digital domains such as e-commerce, app development, cloud computing, and data analytics,” informed Omar Mukhtar, Team Leader SEED Pakistan.
The primary goal of DECODE was to empower the youth of KP by equipping them with vital digital skills. The program sought to promote financial independence, broaden job prospects, and foster an entrepreneurial mindset, Omar told APP.
Omar said in the programme, equal learning opportunities were provided to PWDs with focus on enabling them to become economically independent.
“It’s a source of contentment to know about the success of Faiz Muhammad from the initiative and instilled encouragement among organizers to plan for more such programmes with special focus on polio victims and PWDs,” Omar remarked.
