Ashrafi urges political parties to play role for country’s stability


ISLAMABAD, Jul 23 (APP): Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi on Tuesday stressed all the political parties to be united and work collectively to bring stability in the country, keeping aside the political differences.

Addressing a press conference, he said that unity is the need of hour to steer the country out of prevailing challenges.

Maulana Tahir Ashrafi announced to hold a series of activities including press conferences, seminars and conventions under the title “Pakistan’s Stability” which will take place from August 1-30. The challenges being faced by the country and their solutions will be highlighted during these month long activities, he said.

The Chairman PUC also emphasized on implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and said,“Terrorism and extremism should be eradicated through implementation of NAP in letter and spirit”.

Ashrafi also expressed concern over the lack of punishment for criminals involved in the incidents of May 9, over a year ago, and called for ensuring swift justice.

On the occasion of Independence Day, Pakistani flags will be hoisted at all mosques and madrassas across the country, he added.

Ashrafi said that PUC’s initiatives aims to foster a sense of national unity and address pressing issues affecting the country’s stability.
He also condemned the desecration of the Pakistani flag in Frankfurt, Germany. He said that “the Pakistani flag is our red line”.
